One way the Sequoia Humane Society, a local non profit no kill animal shelter, funds their organization with their annual Humane Gourmet vegetarian banquet. Because the ticket price runs a bit high, this was the first year I attended. The food was okay but the main attraction for me were the vegan lemon and chocolate cupcakes, and the local wine tasting booths (I say booths for there were several).
