My Last DOR Day

Today was my last day working at the Department of Rehabilitation. I definitely learned a lot over the past year. I am grateful for what I now know about government programs, social work, disabilities, and different vocations. It is amazing how short a year can seem.

Office Goodbye Party

Today was my goodbye party for the Department of Rehabilitation. We had miracle fruit berry tablets and lots of sour things to try. It was a lot of fun. I was completely spoiled. I got a colorful bouquet of flowers and a beautiful platter from Fire & Light (which is in the red bag because I had not opened it when the picture was taken).

Humboldt Juggling Festival 2011

The Humboldt Juggling Festival is my all time favorite local event. I waited all year long for it to come again and I wasn't disappointed. I found out the person I took a contact juggling workshop from last year is now under contract with Flowtoys and can juggle professionally. How great is that? The show at the end of the festival was terrific. I was a little surprised there weren't more local acts in the show, but it was great to see so many acts I would normally have to travel to see.

Tsunami in Eureka

Thankfully, Humboldt has not been directly affected by the tsunami. We were declared a disaster area, but there were no reports of injury in the county. Crescent City (about 2 hours north of me) was hit harder with 8 foot waves that mangled their harbor and killing one person.

Humboldt Varietyvill II

Humboldt Varietyvill is at is again with its second production. It was terrific. There were absolutely no repeat performances. I was amazed at time and effort that when in to the show, and clearly I was not alone. The house was packed, people were sitting on the floor to see the show. It was awsome <3
