Haagen Daze Sorbet

It is seriously hot in the Philippines, and yet there is no vegan ice-cream. At least not yet. So finding mango sorbet in Manila seriously made my day. Yum!

Student Film Festival

I got attend Kalalakai High School's student film festival. I went to support Steve (a fellow PCV who teaches English at the school), but once I was there I learned that my coworker's son had entered a film. It was great to see students energy, passion, and self expression put into an organised event. Well worth the 20 pesos (about $0.50) cover charge.

SDC Beach Trip

Ever since I missed the Social Development Center's beach outing (due to the PC emergency drill in November), I have been scheming to go with the girls on another trip. We all piled snugly into one van 9:00 am and headed out for the water about 40 minutes away. Overestimating the time the girls would spend out of the water, we brought hula hoops, poi, juggling balls and clubs with us. I even found a restaurant to make 2 huge platters of vegan pancit (traditional noodle dish) for lunch to make the day extra special.

While unpacking I found my bento supplies! It feels great to finally be able to cook for myself again! I'm finally free of MSG and cornstarch laced meals.

Bodhi Vegetarian Food House

How awesome is Bodhi Vegetarian Food House? I am so happy the Philippines has a chain vegan fast food restaurant, located in some malls. The food is amazing and cruelty free!

Tessellations

Today I got to introduce the girls to the concept of tessellations. It was surprising that they liked the hidden math lesson as much as the art aspect of the workshop. I'd like to think I'm rubbing off on them. The next step is to track down some graph paper for a fractal workshop.
