I got to see Tele Novella live. I was super excited because the lead singer, Natalie Gordon, is also the lead singeing for my all time favorite band Agent Ribbons. Tele Novella was as awesome as I hoped they would be. There were at the tail end of their tour so they had run out of their CD. I did however get Natalie to sign my Agent Ribbons CD.
As an awesome bonus my favorite local band, the Lost Luvs, were the opening band. As always, they proved girls know how to rock their instruments.Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Tomas Kubinek
In honor of my upcoming weekday birthday I went to see Tomas Kubinek's one man, vaudeville inspired show. As promised by hit picture he did fly, and even preformed a six legged dance.

Marx in Soho
Humboldt State University's departments of Economics, History, Philosophy, Politics and Sociology collaboratively hosted Howard Zinn's play 'Marx in Soho' preformed by Bob Weick. It was challenging to find the energy to go out after work on a Thursday night, to the place I gave my thesis defense. However, I am super glad that I did. The play was wonderful. The acting was incredible and the writing (as with any of Zinn's work) was inspiring without glossing over the realities of Marx's life.

13th Annual Humboldt Juggling Festival
One of my absolute favorite things about Humboldt County is the annual Juggling Festival. The talent, passion, and dedication the performers bring to their workshops and the stage, inspires me all year to pursue my interests and dreams.

Reigning Cats & Dogs Gala Fundraiser
I got to attend a Sequoia Humane Society's Reigning Cats & Dogs Gala Fundraiser fundraiser at the Carson Mansion. This year they served meat and oysters, which was very disappointing since in the past Humane Gourmet banquets they have has a completely vegetarian menu. It is a little counter intuitive to serve dead animals at an animal promoting fundraiser. However disappointed I was in the food, it was fun to get to tour the Carson Mansion. I also got to meet a girl who donated her Bat Mitzvah money to the Humane Society in order to help animals, and won a raffle for a spa gift certificate.
