It has been a while, but I am getting back into making bentos for lunch. The top tier is steamed broccoli decorated with carrots, 2 cucumber stars, and a mushroom accented with nori and sunflower seeds. The bottom tier has peas, celery, and brown rice and nori panda bears.

Willie Nelson & Family
I got to see Willie Nelson live in concert. Willie Nelson's music reminds me of my grandmother because, every time we went on a road trip together she would sing On The Road Again. It was a great night, but my favorite part of the evening was when Willie played On The Road Again.

You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
North Coast Repertory Theater's second show for the season was You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. I had never seen it before. I was surprised how similar the play was to the comics. Instead of one story, it consists of several songs and vignettes taken right off the funny pages. It was a fun show, perfect for families especially during the holidays.

Peter Singer
Peter Singer gave the second lecture of Humboldt State University's Centennial Speakers Series. As a vegan who majored in Philosophy, it was such an honor to get to see Dr. Singer present. He has a pragmatic approachable style and has done so much for animal rights over the years. I highly recommend reading Animal Liberation, Practical Ethics, The Expanding Circle, and most recently, or The Way We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter.

Paul Ehrlich
Paul Ehrlich is the first speaker to kick off Humboldt State University's Centennial Speakers Series. For a long time I have interested populations exponential growth and its impact on quality of life and the planet. It was such a treat to get to see Dr. Paul Ehrlich, the author of The Population Bomb, present in person.

Tele Novella & Lost Luvs
I got to see Tele Novella live. I was super excited because the lead singer, Natalie Gordon, is also the lead singeing for my all time favorite band Agent Ribbons. Tele Novella was as awesome as I hoped they would be. There were at the tail end of their tour so they had run out of their CD. I did however get Natalie to sign my Agent Ribbons CD.
As an awesome bonus my favorite local band, the Lost Luvs, were the opening band. As always, they proved girls know how to rock their instruments.Sunday, May 26, 2013
